It's a real shame, I was looking forward to seeing all the girls this week. Ahh well, it'll have to wait until the parlours are open again. I wonder how the powers that be think the ladies are managing for money? It's not like they can claim the self employed grant or any thing else available to other self employed people. If they are insisting you remain closed maybe they should look at some sort of recompense for the women?
I won't hold my breath though - Elaine xx
But will they open again
Is there govt support if extended Closure by councils ?
Maybe a ploy to force shutdown ?

Surely being an escort/masseuse/personal entertainer etc would count as any other service based or freelance profession if registered for self assessment? As long as books are in order and there is regular income. Though I appreciate it's still hard and a lot of ladies come and go in the industry thus falling through the cracks.
Key words ... books in order
Not saying anyone is not declaring the correct tax return, but when this kicked off the HMRC declared the average wage for a self employed person according to their tax return was less than £100 per week !!!!!
Seductions had a rota up yesterday. Closed today due to Covid-19. Presumably the people from the Council just turn up around opening time and instruct the premise to close. Is that correct or are they more heavy handed than that? Does put you off being in a parlour when they arrive though. AW beckons

Then again, hasn't there been a significant rise in the number of people classed as self employed since the 2008 recession? I think what happened was as the Cameron regime overhauled the benefits department they were effectively encouraging people to go self employed even if it was only a few hours per week lol. Easy way to massage the unemployment figures - Thatcher just wrote millions off as disabled; Blair pushed fake training schemes. The rise of e-commerce, food delivery, renting out rooms etc plays a part in it all too.
Hence ridiculously skewed figures compared to 15-20 years ago.

Jobsworth council scum wouldn’t bother me. If they were backed up by the Police that may be different.

Ah, yes. The Dash for Diesel idea.
An obviously well thought out concept LOL. Preceded by the equally 'ingenius' PFIs and desire to give 50% of kids a degree. Then give them a 40k 'loan' to pay for it. Followed by the wonderfully bizarre working tax credits system.
13.5 million people voted for PM Frank Spencer and Chancellor Mr Bean, mainly because Uncle Rupert told them to.

Unfortunately HMRC make it difficult for working girls to pay taxes etc. When the authorities did a sweep of the parlours a few years ago they tried to persuade girls to register as cleaners, hairdressers or massage therapists! Many of the girls who were up for 'legalising' their position complained that if HMRC were willing to take money off them then they should be willing to recognise sex work as a legitimate career! I remember taking one lady who was a dominatrix to the tax office to declare her earnings.........it took 6 weeks to sort it out because Dominatrix or Sex Worker wasn't on their list of accepted occupations. She did eventually get to pay tax but it was a real struggle for her! Maybe it's easier in more cosmopolitan areas of Britain but in Hull it was an uphill battle!
A lot of the girls do claim benefits but there's a significant number who don't, mainly due to worries about malicious exes or neighbours 'grassing' them up. They're the ones who have been relying on food-banks and charity.

All makes sense now. Thanks for explaining the situation - these ladies were right to stand up for themselves. Integrity, unlike the ponce bureaucrats telling them to lie!
The decision with the parlours was an executive one taken by officers not councillors. They have explained that decision to the councillor's and if it's legislated the councillors generally follow there decision.
Just thought I would clear that up, like the shortage of money within local councils it's beyond there control.

Its strange that Hull CC officers are giving their elected members advice which is at odds with that of pretty much every other council in the country. However given that the council and police generally leave the local parlours alone, its probably not worth rocking the boat.
