In fairness the Conservatives have only won two general elections in the last 30 years. One of which was after guaranteeing a EU referendum, thus pulling onside a lot of UKIP voters.

I did find it surreal watching a Tory MP on Sky News beaming over a potential no deal next Friday. For all their faults and ruthlessness with the poorest, this was the party you backed if you owned or ran a business and associated with economic stability and competence.

Do you mean the french owned nuclear power plant?
funded by EU or do you mean funded power companies so these distributors make money
owned by:
SGN – SSE (33.3%, UK), Borealis Infrastructure (25%, Canada), OTTP, (25%, Canada), Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (17.7%, Abu Dhabi)
Northern Gas Networks – Cheung Kong Group (Hong Kong), Power Asset Holdings Limited (Hong Kong) and SAS Trustee Corporation (Australian Pension Fund) (percentage splits unknown)
Cadent – 39% National Grid (UK), 61% is a consortium led by Macquarie, an Australian investment bank. The deal is also backed by China Investment Corporation (CIC) and Qatar Investment Authority, along with fund managers including Hermes and Allianz
Wales and West Utilities – Cheung Kong Group (100%, Hong Kong)

You keep banging on about EU funding, it is our money returned to us
and allocated to what the EU decides, in fact we receive less than we pay
surely you know that?
The EU allocates money to Hull purely because it devastated our local
fishing industry, the amount allocated is less than the loss to Hull.

Only about 10% of the total cost, mainly funded by private investors (Banks etc)

So it was the greed of the fishermen that allocated our waters to France, Spain etc?

Please define OUR WATERS

Do you mean anything inside the statutory 12 miles that denotes the official boundary of any country

And if memory serves didn’t we try to rape Icelandic waters cis ours were dead .. before the EU

The Common Fisheries Policy allows any EU country to fish up
to our shore line, and EU quota allocations mean that france etc
take 3 times what we do from our waters within 12 miles and beyond.

Hull had the largest fishing fleet in the UK probably second only to Russia
regardless of its % of GDP, locally it was devastating. Any one who lives here understands that.

1. The Hull fishing fleet fished primarily in Icelandic waters. Iceland is not in the EU. It extended its fishing limits to 200 miles and the British government sold out the fishing industry under pressure from the USA which was threatened with losing its base at Keflavik.

2. When we leave the EU we will need to do a deal with them about fishing. UK consumers only eat about 6 species. Most of what British boats catch is sold to the EU and unless they can continue to do so they will have no market for their fish. It's no good controlling our waters if our fishermen can't sell what they catch.

Because it's British owner sold it and the quota attached to it to a Dutch buyer.
